Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute (TBGRI) is a premier R&D Institution, involved in conservation and sustainable utilization of plant diversity. It is one of the largest conservative gardens in Asia. We are looking for suitable candidates to fill up the following vacancies:


Name of the Posts:-

1. Scientist C (Conservation Biology), Qualifications: 1st class M.Sc. Botany/Zoology/Life Sciences/Wild Life Biology and Ph. D with specialization in any aspects of Conservation Biology., Experience : 2 years after Ph.D., Desirable: Experience in inter-specific association in tropical ecosystems, behavioral study of herbivores and capacity to conceive and execute research projects.
2. Scientist B (Biotechnology), Qualification : 1st class M.Sc in Biotechnology/Botany and Ph.D in Biotechnology, Desirable: Experience in DNA sequencing, gene isolation & expression studies in plants and plant genetic diversity analysis.
3. Scientist B (Phyto- pharmacology), Qualification: First class M.Sc in Pharmacology/Biotechnology and Ph.D. in Pharmacology/Biotechnology (involving natural product/herbal drug pharmacological studies)., Desirable: Experience in Phyto-pharmacological studies.
4. Scientist B (Phyto-chemistry), Qualification: First class M.Sc in Chemistry/Biochemistry and Ph.D. in Phytochemistry/Natural Product Chemistry/Chemistry., Desirable: Experience in Phyto-chemical studies on medicinal and aromatic plants.
5. Registrar, Qualification & Experience: Post Graduate of a recognized University. Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management and Industrial Relations of a recognized University or Institute. Fifteen year’s administrative experience under State or Central Government or State Government R&D institution of which, 10 years must be in a senior officer’s capacity.

Preference will be given to those having MBA or LLB or experience in R&D institutions under Central or State Government.


The Institute follows CSIR scale of pay for scientists and Kerala State Government scale of pay for administrative staff. The scale of pay for the post of scientist C is Rs. 15600-39100 + grade pay Rs. 6600 and that for scientist B is Rs.15600-39100+grade pay Rs. 5400; scale of pay for Registrar is Rs. 20700-26600. Number of vacancies : 1 in each category.


Age: 35 years as on closing date of application for scientists B & C; 50 years for Registrar as on 1.1.2010.


Age limit may be relaxed in the case of internal candidates and candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC as per State Government rules.


Community reservations for the positions will be as per the State Government rules.


In the case of exceptionally meritorious candidates relaxations in the requirements may apply. The Director reserves the right to fill or not to fill any or all the above positions. In the case of Registrar those who applied in response to the earlier advertisements in 2010 may not apply again.
